Store Owner Arrested For Shooting Robber

Francisco Valerio was arrested for reckless endangerment after he accidentally shot a robber he was pistol-whipping during a robbery attempt inside his liquor store in the Ridgewood section of Queens. The incident started when Edwin Poaquiza and Kevin Pullutasi, both 20, entered the store and tried to swipe some liquor bottles, cops said. Valerio initially stopped them and forced them to leave the store, according to authorities. The two returned soon after and allegedly began assaulting Valerio. Valerio grabbed his pistol during the melee, and errantly let off a shot, hitting Pullutasi in the stomach. All three men were awaiting arraignment in Queens Criminal Court.
