City Commissioner Arrested For Elderly Exploitation
Orlando City Commissioner Regina Hill was arrested Thursday on fraud and elderly exploitation charges. The investigation and subsequent arrest comes after she was accused of stealing over $100K from a 96-year-old woman and using the money to buy a house and get a facelift. Investigators claim this was done through a power of attorney over the unidentified elderly victim, where she also bought clothing, car insurance payments, dental surgery, and a New Year’s Eve stay at a Miami hotel with the misappropriated funds. Hill became the subject of a state investigation that was triggered in February 2023 when the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) received a tip from one of her staffers who had been fired. The elderly woman allegedly told law enforcement agents she remembers signing “some sort of document”, but did not understand the details of the legal papers.
