Wife Convicted For Setting Fire To Husband, Watching Him Burn
Evelyn Zigerelli-Henderson was found guilty on one count each of second-degree murder, aggravated arson, and arson in the 2022 killing of her husband 84-year-old Carmen Henderson. In the early morning of June 16th, 2022, Henderson called 911 and told the dispatcher that her husband had passed away after “starting a fire and burning himself.” Emergency services arrived at the residence at about 5 a.m. and found the victim, Carmen Henderson, burned to death and naked on the couple’s back patio. Authorities said they found fly larvae in his mouth and nostrils, indicating that he had been dead for a while. Numerous inconsistencies in her account of what had taken place led to investigators quizzing her on her relationship with her husband, in which they found out the couple was in severe debt and was likely to lose their home. Authorities say she admitted to spending the couple’s money on vacation homes, day spas, and other luxury goods and services. This gave Zigerelli-Henderson a financial motive for the homicide. Zigerelli-Henderson also stated that although her husband would be going on to live with his children from a previous marriage, she was not welcome, and would eventually be homeless. arson, aggravated arson, second-degree murder, evelyn zigerelli-henderson, dauphin county, susquehanna, pennsylvania
