New Jersey Woman Scams Amputee Friend, Stealing $15,000 In GoFundMe Proceeds
Nicole C. Weidelman, 46, of Tinton Falls, NJ, has been charged with third degree theft, the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office announced in a December 18th news release. This comes after Weidelman reached out to a man’s mother, her “longtime family friend,” and offered to raise money online for her son’s medical bills, officials said. The man had been involved in a serious accident in Florida on the I-95 causing him to require multiple surgeries, resulting in him needing a prosthetic for an amputated arm. Weidelman moved over $15,000 out of the GoFundMe to her personal account by carrying out over two dozen transactions and then lying to the family of the man over the course of several months. gofundme,
