Jermaine Lamont Peay is still awaiting trial for charges of burglary and sexual assault at a Marriott Hotel in downtown Charlotte where a guest awakened to Peay giving the victim oral sex. The stranger entered the hotel room due to a malfunction with the locking mechanisms on his door causing it to not properly self-latch or self-lock. According to the victim, he “howled in terror and lashed out to punch Peay,” who allegedly grabbed his wallet and phone and took off. The victim is currently in the process of suing the Marriot for $160 million dollars, due to the hotel not having sufficient security measures, which allowed Peay into the building unchecked.
