Man Slaps Woman With Bible In Easter Sunday Altercation

Peter Owens, 35, was arrested and charged with felony battery after an altercation at the Walgreens on Poinsettia Avenue in Clearwater Beach on Sunday, according to an arrest affidavit from the Clearwater Police Department. Owens got into a disagreement with an employee and was asked to leave the store by the store manager. In the process, Owens smacked the manager in the face with a brown bible before leaving the store. He told police that he hit the store manager with his Bible because “she was being rude to him,” the affidavit said, adding that “he did not mean to hit her.” Owens was then booked and released from the Pinellas County Jail after making $5,000 bond. The next day he was caught stealing Cheez-Its and footwear from a Walmart in Tarpon Springs . Owens was then booked again into Pinellas County Jail and made $150 bond.
