Las Vegas Judge Faces Ethics Backlash After Posing In Hot Tub With Public Defenders
Clark County District Court Judge Erika Ballou faces two ethics charges stemming from social media posts, one in which she appeared to state that cases in which defendants are not in custody should be tossed out and another in which she posed with two individuals from the Clark County Public Defender’s office in a hot tub and referred to “tits.” Ballou is no stranger to public criticism, in 2016 she refused to remove a “Black Lives Matter” pin after a judge ordered her to do so, and on another occasion, she had comments about the state of policing in Las Vegas which drew the ire of The Las Vegas Police Protective Association, the union representing Metro police officers.
